Privacy Policy

Welcome to SportDogLog ("we," "us," "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how Matthew Chimento, the developer of SportDogLog, collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the SportDogLog app or visit our website (SportDogLog.com) (collectively, "Services").

1. Information We Collect

• User Authentication Data: We use Clerk to manage user authentication. Clerk processes personal information (e.g., email address, contact details) for sign-in only. We are the data controller; Clerk acts as a data processor.
• Logged Data: Your logs (dog performance, bird sightings, harvest events, field notes) are stored in Supabase with strict Row-Level Security, ensuring only you can access your data.
• Location Data: If you grant location permissions, the app may collect GPS coordinates to record the location of hunts, bird contacts, or other field events. Location data is stored as part of your logs in Supabase and is not shared with third parties or used for advertising.
• Subscription Data: We use RevenueCat to manage app subscriptions and in-app purchases. RevenueCat processes purchase receipts and subscription status to enable premium features.
• Analytics: We may collect anonymized, aggregated usage data (such as feature usage frequency and crash reports) solely to improve app performance and reliability. This data cannot be used to identify you personally.
• Device Information: We may collect basic device information (operating system version, device model) for debugging and compatibility purposes.

2. How We Use Your Data

• Authenticate users securely via Clerk.
• Store and retrieve your field logs and hunting data in Supabase.
• Record location data associated with your logged events (if location permission is granted).
• Process subscriptions and enable premium features via RevenueCat.
• Analyze anonymized usage to improve app performance and fix bugs.
• Respond to support requests and inquiries.

3. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Specifically:

• Account & log data: Retained until you delete your account. Upon account deletion, all associated logs, field data, and personal information are permanently deleted within 30 days.
• Authentication data: Clerk retains authentication records in accordance with their data retention policy. Upon account deletion request, we will instruct Clerk to delete your authentication records.
• Subscription data: RevenueCat may retain anonymized purchase receipts as required for fraud prevention and legal compliance, even after account deletion.
• Analytics data: Anonymized analytics data is retained for up to 12 months and cannot be linked back to your account after deletion.

4. Account & Data Deletion

You have the right to delete your account and all associated data at any time. You can request deletion in either of these ways:

• In-app: Navigate to Settings → Account → Delete Account.
• By email: Send a deletion request to support@SportDogLog.com from the email address associated with your account.

Upon verified request, all personal data and logs will be permanently deleted within 30 days. We may retain minimal data where required by law (e.g., transaction records for tax compliance), which will be clearly noted in any deletion confirmation we send you.

5. Data Storage & Security

• Clerk: Authentication data is protected under Clerk's SOC 2 security framework.
• Supabase: Your logs are encrypted at rest with AES‑256, transmitted over TLS, and governed by Row-Level Security policies that restrict access to your account only.
• RevenueCat: Subscription data is encrypted in transit and at rest under RevenueCat's security standards.
• Backups: Supabase takes encrypted daily backups to protect against data loss.

6. Third-Party Services

We do not sell or share your personal data with advertisers. The following third-party processors handle data on our behalf:

• Clerk — User authentication, social login, passkeys, and MFA. Clerk Privacy Policy

7. Your Rights

• Access, export, or delete your data at any time within the app or by contacting us.
• Withdraw location permission at any time via your device settings without affecting other app functionality.
• Only you (when authenticated) can access your logs.
• Residents of certain jurisdictions (e.g., EU/EEA, California) may have additional rights including data portability and the right to object to processing. Contact us at support@SportDogLog.com to exercise these rights.

8. Children's Privacy

SportDogLog is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@SportDogLog.com and we will delete it promptly.

9. Policy Updates

We may update this policy over time. When we make material changes, we will update the Effective Date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
